This position is responsible for ensuring that the Post Cast machining processes are performed in compliance with the methods, materials and equipment specifications as detailed in the corporate Post Cast manual. The position provides the technical support of tooling, work instructions, process/method definition and operations technical post cast machining floor support. For this position, all references to post cast include but are not limited to; knockout, cut off, grinding, grit blast, finishing, straightening, media and handling.
Approve all new and revised work instructions in the machining / Post Cast area
Ensure and audit compliance to Department Activity Instruction, Corporate manual requirements and SOP’s. that ensure compliance to NADCAP compliance
Responsible for determination of the root cause of any deviation from critical process specifications, executional scrap pareto analysis and provide technical support to Engineering team to resolve Post cast machining related issues
Responsible for performing deviation investigation, creating/updating necessary work Instructions/procedures, identifying and implementing appropriate corrective actions and change controls
Responsible for reporting the critical process status (ASATS) on daily and monthly basis to the Corporate Business Unit Post Cast Process Owner
Review all new equipment Specifications in the Post Cast Area
Responsible for qualifying new equipment, re-builds and improvements per corporate standards prior to production release related to Post Cast Machining Processes
Responsible for daily interface and communication of issues with manufacturing, maintenance, facilities personnel responsible for the Post Cast areas
Troubleshoot post cast machining operations issues including but not limited to; fixturing/ clamping issues, program and/ or parameter issues and procedural issues
Responsible for understanding downstream product quality as it relates to Post Cast and reacting appropriately to observed conditions
Institute proper project monitoring, follow up and feedback system to insure financial and contract targets are met. (yields, rework,)
Foster continuous improvement utilizing Process Management designed experiments, IPM and SPC, Cpk
Work on Cross-Functional teams to accomplish department and Plant goals
Demonstrates considerable ingenuity and creativity while recognizing prudent risk
As a recognized expert in the Post Cast process technology area, provide technical guidance to management and peers in areas of current or potential needs of the plant
Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution.
A minimum of 3 years experience in an engineering role dealing with metal removal within a machine shop/manufacturing environment.
This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Bachelors in Mechanical, Electrical or Materials Science Engineering from an accredited institution.
Minimum 5+ years of hands on experience in an engineering role specifically dealing with metal removal within a machine shop/manufacturing environment
Knowledge of equipment, inspection gauging and tooling/fixture design and maintenance.
Experience in 4 & 5-axis CNC Engineering, preferably with Nickel-based aerospace parts
Experience in investment casting, programming and machining
Black belt/Green belt certification
Knowledge of statistical software (Minitab, JMP)
Knowledge of programming software (SQL, Visual Basic)
Project Management experience
