Senior Optimization Scientist
Arconic Technology Center is seeking a Senior Optimization Scientist with focus on Operations Research, Mixed/Integer and Combinatorial Optimization.
The candidate will be responsible for:
Translating industrial use cases into the corresponding mathematical procedures.
Ccoding and deploying the mathematical solution within commercial and/or open source computational tools.
Major Activities / Key Challenges:
Interact with stakeholders across Arconic operations to identify optimization opportunities and requirements. and convert them into formal optimization problem statements, including constraints and multiple objectives.
Iterate with stakeholders to estimate the potential value of optimization, and to improve the formulation of optimization procedures.
Estimate cost and duration of optimization related activities, as well as detailing execution steps and explaining it to stakeholders with varied backgrounds
Perform computational implementation of optimization procedures, using software packages such as (but not limited to) CPLEX, Gurobi, GLPK, R, Python, Matlab, MS-Excel Solver.
Interact with and operate plant databases to obtain data necessary for the implementation of optimization procedures.
Develop web interfaces that allow end users to operate optimization applications from a data input/data output perspective, without requiring knowledge of optimization theory or practice.
Essential Knowledge & Skills / Education:
BS in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Operations research, Applied Statistics, or related quantitative field.
Proficiency in general optimization, with strong focus on Operations Research (Linear Programming, Combinatorial Optimization, Mixed/Integer Optimization, SIMPLEX method, Dynamic Programming)
Intermediate to advanced computing programing skills in environments such as (but not limited to) CPLEX, Gurobi, GLPK, R, Python, Matlab, MS-Excel Solver.
Bachelors Degree in Industrial/Systems Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Computer/Data Science, Operations research, or Applied Statistics from an accredited institution
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in operations research, optimization, data science, or industrial applied math/stat
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

MS/PhD. in Optimization/Operations Research.
Proficiency in Linear and Non-linear Optimization.
Proficiency in Heuristic Optimization Methods (Genetic Algorithms, Simulated Annealing, Particle Swarm, Ensemble Methods).
Strong foundation and 3+ years of experience in Industrial Operations, Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
Proficiency in Dynamic Programming.
DataBase Administration and Web Development.
