Position Description

This opening is in our Kawneer business located in Norcross, GA. We are the leading manufacturer of architectural aluminum products and systems for the commercial construction industry. Kawneer is part of Arconic’s global Building and Construction Systems (BCS) business unit, which manufactures and markets architectural systems and products in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

The Technical Illustrator / Drafter is responsible for developing and maintaining engineering & customer facing documentation to support the development of new products and existing products within Global Product Engineering organization.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Create engineering and support documentation intended for printed or website product support utilizing both CAD and publishing software. Documentation includes all aspects of engineering & customer facing engineering support such as Installation Instructions, BIM Models, Specifications and Ordering Guides;

  • Manage engineering data in PDM system;

  • Requires hands-on lab activities related to the fabrication, assembly, installation and testing of products;

  • Participates in new product development team activities such as conceptual design, prototyping and schedule development;

  • Generate and conduct peer reviews of engineering changes;

  • Collaborate and/or oversee 3rd party translation, publishing service and component suppliers.

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Design, Drafting, Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited institution;

  • Minimum of 2 year on the job experience with 2D and / or 3D modeling software (i.e. AutoCad, Solidworks, Inventor, Revit, etc.);

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering from an accredited institution;

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with Siemens Team Center and / or Vault;

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with XML based publishing software such Adobe Creative suite, Schema or Quark.
