Arconic Industrial Engineer in Torrance, California
Arconic Fastening Systems is looking for an Industrial Engineer to support Arconic Company objectives regarding assessment, development, and implementation of changes to improve quality, reduce cost, and maintain production commitments. To this effect, the IE will coordinate work efforts, and support tasks in a CNC production machining cell. This new position is located at our aerospace fastener plant in Torrance, CA.

Time and Process improvement studies to support efficient product build and flow
Review and optimization of production plans and schedules
Complete manpower/crew sizing, and tool changeover optimization
Oversight, optimization and control over CNC programs and machine tool layouts
Evaluate and provide recommendations for improving labor utilization and performance.
Plan equipment layout, workflow and accident prevention measures to maintain efficient and safe utilization of plant facilities.
Plan and oversee training to promote efficient manpower utilization
Work closely with other engineering disciplines in the development of new products, costing, product qualification and rollout.
Perform capital equipment/facilities project business case analyses.
Integrate LEAN/5S and 6 sigma principles into all aspects of tasks and responsibilities.
Investigate issues, perform root cause analysis, and initiate corrective actions as required to support program requirements.
Other tasks as assigned.
Project Management skills - the Industrial Engineer acts as a technical authority and may have overall project responsibility
Design – ability to understand drawing and technical specification requirements; ability to coordinate the implementation of requirements through the Manufacturing process. This requires creativity to resolve complex issues.
Documentation—able to develop recommendations for efficient manufacturing plans (CNC programs, tool layouts, work instructions, routers) through creation and maintenance of production standards.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a fast-paced environment
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited Institution
Minimum 3 years of Engineering experience in manufacturing

Prefer the Engineering Bachelor’s Degree is in Industrial Engineering or similar, from an accredited institution.
5+ years of experience in an Industrial Engineering role evaluating and improving the manufacturing approach: tool function, material removal, workpiece orientation, tool load balancing, inspection, product protection, coatings application and assembly processes for production standards and improvements.
5+ years of experience supporting the integration of all elements of production, including blueprints, specifications, tooling, work instructions, equipment, training, inspection, methods and materials. Experience assessing, developing, and implementing changes to improve quality, reduce cost, and maintain production commitments.
Experience in a machine shop environment
